Using translation overrides
Who is this article for?
Administrators who want to customise translated text to match their organisation's terminology within Mazlan Home.
Admin Console access is required
Translation overrides let you change Mazlan Home's translations to wordings that fits your organisation better for each supported language.
Overrides are applied at your organisation level. They won’t affect other organisations or Ideagen's original translations. Overrides take effect straight away, with no action needed from Ideagen.
This article explains how to create and reset overrides.
Accessing translation overrides
To access translation overrides:
- Access the Admin Console.
- Select Settings.
- Click Language settings to expand the section.
- Under Translation overrides, click Configure.
You'll be taken to the Translation overrides page, which lists every translatable string in your organisation's Mazlan Home.
Navigating the page
Selecting a language
Along the top of the page, tabs let you switch between the languages available for override (e.g. French, Italian, Spanish)
Searching
Use the Search strings field to find a specific piece of text by keyword, this searches both the Where it appears location (e.g. "Banner", "Complementary apps") and the Default (language) text itself.
Table columns
Column |
Description |
|---|---|
Where it appears |
The location in the product where this string is displayed (e.g. Apps – Banner – Title, Apps – App details panel – Ask community). |
Default (language) |
The standard, out-of-the-box translation provided by Mazlan Home for the selected language. |
Override |
The custom text your organisation has set to replace the default. Displays "No override set" if none has been configured. To change the text, click edit (pencil icon). |

Shows whether the string is currently Overridden or Default |
| Actions | Reset an override to revert to using the standard translation provided by Mazlan Home. |
Editing overrides
To change an override:
- Locate the string using the search field, or filter by language/status.
- Click Edit (Pencil icon) in the Override column.
- Enter your organisation's preferred wording.
- Click the Tick icon to save the override.
The Status column will update to Overridden, and the new text is live immediately.
Note
If you remove or change a placeholder in your override text, saving will fail and show an error (e.g. "Keep the placeholder {{first}} - it's automatically replaced with a real value."). Restore the placeholder exactly as in the Default column, then save again.
Removing overrides
To remove an override:
- Locate the string with an Overridden status.
- Click Reset in the Actions column.
The string will revert to its default text and status.
Note
Overrides apply per language and organisation. A string overridden in French for your organisation remains default in Italian and Spanish unless overridden there. Your overrides do not affect other organisations.
