Introduction to Mazlan
Who is this article for?
Mazlan users working with agents and assistants.
Mazlan is required.
Mazlan is an AI-powered assistant that works within your Ideagen solution to help you work smarter and faster. It's designed to support your team with tasks you do regularly—creating documents, analyzing data, logging incidents, checking compliance—so you can focus on decisions that need your expertise.
How Mazlan works
Mazlan works through an AI chat interface. You type what you need, and Mazlan responds in real time. It feels like talking to someone who knows your organization, because Mazlan has access to your data and your solution configuration.
Think of Mazlan like having a knowledgeable colleague available whenever you need help except it's available 24/7, it never gets tired, and it works at the speed of conversation.
Two ways Mazlan helps: assistants and product-award
Mazlan delivers its help through two different tools. Understanding the difference helps you know when to use each one.
Assistants
An assistant is a proven best-practice workflow. It's the "safe, recommended way" to achieve a specific task based on Ideagen expertise.
When you use an assistant, you're following a step-by-step process that's been tested and refined. An assistant helps you do something specific, like:
- Create a risk assessment from a template
- Generate an incident report
- Check a document against compliance requirements
- Draft organizational policies
You're in control. You provide the information, Mazlan guides you through the process, and you review and approve every step.
Solution-aware
Mazlan can also be solution-aware, meaning it becomes a coordinator that performs tasks within your Ideagen solution. It uses your data and configuration to tailor the experience, calls on assistants when needed, and acts on your behalf.
Once enabled for your solution, Mazlan can:
- Monitor incoming incidents and surface the ones that need attention
- Pull your organization's requirements from your solution and apply them automatically
- Chain together multiple assistants to complete a full workflow
- Suggest actions based on patterns it sees in your data
You still decide. Agents make things easier, but you review the outcomes and approve any actions before they're finalized.
Example of an Mazlan in action: You raise a new incident with Mazlan. It will prompt you to make sure all the required information is completed and it automatically pulls your organization's risk taxonomy from your solution configuration, calls on the bow tie assistant to help surface possible root causes, and updates the incident record with the findings, coordinating the whole workflow so you don't have to jump between tools. You then review the outcome and decide if it's ready to submit.
Mazlan Isn't...
It's important to know what Mazlan does not do:
- It doesn't replace your judgment. Mazlan suggests, supports, and streamlines. You make the final decisions.
- It doesn't work without review. Always check Mazlan's output before accepting it. Errors can happen, and your expertise catches them.
- It doesn't have access to everything. Mazlan only uses data and configurations you've set up in your Ideagen solution.
- It doesn't make permanent changes without you. Every significant action requires your approval first.
