Understanding logout and session behaviour
Who is this article for?
Users who want to understand how Hub handles logout and session security.
No special access or permissions are required.
Hub is your central access point for all Ideagen apps. Because of that, how you log out and where you log out from may affect more than just the tab you're on.
This article covers what happens when you log out, and what to expect around automatic timeouts.
Signing out
When you log out in Hub, you’ll be signed out of Hub and all connected Ideagen apps at once. There’s no need to sign out of each app separately. This is intentional, as Hub manages your identity across all integrated products, so logging out once removes your access everywhere.
If you sign out from any integrated app, the same happens in reverse. You’ll be signed out of that app, Hub, and all other connected apps at the same time.
Choosing to log out explicitly will always sign you out fully.
Idle timeout
If you are inactive in Hub for 30 minutes, Hub will automatically sign you out. This only affects your Hub session.
If you remain active in Hub, your session will be maintained for up to 24 hours before you are required to sign in again.
If you have opened an integrated app and are working in that app in a separate tab, that app manages its own session independently and won’t be affected by Hub’s idle timeout.
Once Hub signs you out due to inactivity, you will need to sign back in to access Hub’s features again.
Multiple tabs and potential session conflicts
When you have Hub open in one tab and a connected app open in another, you may occasionally run into login errors after signing out.
This happens because multiple tabs share the same browser storage but each tab operates independently. They can accidentally overwrite each other's security stamps, causing a mismatch that breaks the login process.
if you encounter a login error, close the extra browser tab, refresh, and sign in again from a single tab.
